Sharuna (Shadow x Runa) Parallel #6: Where their DNAs Come From

This Sharuna Parallel showcases whom Shadow and Runa the Hedgehogs received their DNAs from, and their opinions on them.

In Shadow's case, his DNA comes from a group of creatures called the "Black Arms." They lived their lives in the Black Comet under the leadership of Black Doom before they were destroyed by Shadow himself.

Over 50 years ago, the Black Comet passed by the Earth. During that time, Black Doom made a deal with Professor Gerald Robotnik about completing Project: Shadow. Black Doom would provide his DNA for Gerald to create Shadow. In exchange, Gerald had to give him (Black Doom) all seven Chaos Emeralds the next time the Black Comet passes by Earth, which would take place 50 years later.

Gerald accepted the deal, however, he knew the Black Arms are not to be trusted, so he invented the Eclipse Cannon to destroy the Black Comet.

With Black Doom's DNA in Gerald's hands, he finally completed Project: Shadow. Thus, Shadow the Hedgehog came to the world.

Eventually, Shadow met and defeated Black Doom. Then, he destroyed the Black Comet with the Eclipse Cannon.

During the events of Sonic X Shadow Generations, Black Doom returned. He tried to convince Shadow to be on his side while the latter received his Doom Powers. Shadow refused to join Black Doom and defeated him again without hesitation.

Even though Shadow's DNA originates from Black Doom, he sees him and the Black Arms as threats to humanity.

In Runa's case, her DNA comes from a human-like alien species called the "Langcomns." The name "Langcomn" is the combination of two words: "language" and "communication." This resulted in Runa having the ability to talk to creatures big and small, read others' thoughts when needed and sense/seek anyone's feelings in case of emergency. She also develops the same few habits as the Langcomns (e.g. feeling her soulmate's feelings unintentionally; empathizimg with others, especially those whom she can relate to).

Over 40 years ago, Professor Michael Lucas traveled far from home to search for a suitable DNA to complete Project: Runa. He was finished with her physical body and everything else, except for the DNA he was searching for. Eventually, he came across the Langcomn Village.

Lucas asked the Langcomn Village's chief for permission to receive his kind's DNA in order to complete Project: Runa. There were objections from other Langcomns at first, but they agreed and made new resolutions later on.

The Langcomns extracted the DNA from one of their kind and created an exact replica of their sacred artifact: The Amulet of Communication. After that, they handed the small pot of their DNA and the replica of the amulet to Lucas. Then, Lucas and the Langcomns bid their farewells to each other before the former left.

With one of the Langcomns' DNA and the Amulet of Communication's replica in Lucas' hands, he finally completed Project: Runa. Thus, Runa the Hedgehog was born.

Over 40 years later, during her journey to discover her real purpose, Runa met the Langcomns' current chief named "Langua" through a misunderstanding. Eventually, they made peace with each other and became allies.
