Sharuna (Shadow x Runa) Parallel #2: Mourning

Inspired by: Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings

After watching the episodes of Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings, I got inspired to do a few artworks, including a series of Sharuna (Shadow X Runa) Parallels.

This Sharuna Parallel shows themselves mourning for their respective best friends. For Shadow, it was Maria, and for Runa, it was Clara.

On Shadow's side, he and Maria tried to escape the Space Colony ARK as it was raided by G.U.N. soldiers to erase evidence of Project: Shadow. When they got to the escape pod, Maria got shot by a G.U.N. soldier. Maria used the last of her strength to activate the escape pod with Shadow inside. Before she died, she begged him to give people a chance to be happy. After that, Shadow was ejected from the Space Colony ARK inside the escape pod.

Moments after this and before he was found by the government, I could see Shadow mourning for Maria in the pod.

On Runa's Side, she and Clara were on a mission to retrieve an ancient artifact from far away, with the help of supportive and skilled recruits. When they found the artifact, the recruits betrayed Runa and Clara and they turned out to be a group of gangsters, who wanted the artifact for money. As a result, Runa and Clara fought the recruits, and vice versa. Runa and Clara fought side-by-side. That was until Clara was shot by the leader of the gangsters. Runa couldn't handle losing Clara, so she tried calling for help, but to no avail. Eventually, she called the police for help.

Soon after, Clara was hospitalized. Runa was asked to visit Clara for a heart-to-heart conversation. And so, she did. Clara said her final words. This included asking Runa to promise her to take her place in protecting the world and to stay alive until she finds her real purpose in life. After saying her final words, Clara died.

Runa went into a mental breakdown, so the doctors had to carry her out of the hospital room. After that, she banged the door while trying to deny Clara's death. One of the doctors apologized and said that there's nothing they could do to keep Clara alive.

Sometime after that, Runa ran out of the hospital and into the grassy fields. She tripped over a stone and landed on her knees. Then, she mourned for her.
