Sharuna Parallel #5: Creation

Even after the Fearless Year of Shadow, I'm still doing Sharuna Parallels. This is drawn last year, but it wasn't posted because I've been busy wih school and other important things.

This Sharuna Parallel showcases how both Shadow and Runa were created. It also features their creators.

In Shadow's case, he was created by Professor Gerald Robotnik in the Space Colony ARK. His purpose was to cure the illness of Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. Unfortunately, that purpose wasn't fulfilled as Maria died during the Space Colony ARK raid.

In Runa's case, she was created by Professor Michael Lucas, or as most people call him, "Professor Lucas," in the basement of his laboratory in the forest. Professor Lucas has been a big fan of Professor Gerald Robotnik ever since he was little. He thought his inventions were awesome because they were created for the benefit of humanity.

When he was in high school, Lucas had special access to the Space Colony ARK for his secret internship with Gerald. During his internship, Lucas met Maria Robotnik and Abraham Tower. Then, he met Shadow through them. When he learned that Gerald created Shadow, he was ecstatic and enthusiastic. He had never seen a scientist create a living being.

As Lucas continued to study under Gerald, he got to know more of Maria, Abraham and especially Shadow. Lucas believed Shadow to be the force of good, though he respects his decision to choose his own path.

When his internship was over, Lucas bid his goodbyes to Maria, Abraham, Shadow and Gerald. Then, he went back home.

Eventually, Lucas found out about Maria's death, Gerald's arrest and the shutting down of the ARK. He was in a mental breakdown, so his mom had to calm him down.

After he calmed down, Lucas resolved his grief by honoring his memories of Maria. He didn't know if Shadow's alive or dead yet, so he decided to honor his memories by creating an experiment like how Gerald created Shadow. And so, after he graduated from college, he built his own lab in the forest. Once it's finished, he moved there and created the experiment.

Professor Lucas named the experiment "Project: Runa" because the name "Runa" means "secret love." He also named her that because after the raid in the ARK, he's still secretly compassionate for Shadow.

Runa's real purpose was to discover who Shadow is, to connect him to other people, and to guide him to the path he (Professor Lucas) hoped to choose: "To save and protect humanity." Runa's purpose was also to help and support Shadow no matter what, even if he chooses to take the bad path. But Professor Lucas altered her purpose for the public to know, just in case he encountered people asking him or Runa about it. He also did so to avoid major conflicts with other people, especially with the government. That altered purpose for Runa was to protect those who cannot protect the world on their own.
